Barbecue Grille Lid Master Pattern
Master patterns for producing a cast iron permanent mold for mass production of barbecue grill lids. These patterns were developed in SurfCam from 2D AutoCAD drawings supplied by the customer. The Brazilian mahogany stock was glued up and the pattern was cut in halves. It was later joined at centerline and mounted to the parting line base. This pattern was reversed in plaster and the plaster lagged with .187 inch sheet wax. A cast was taken from this combination to develope the male half of this mold. Iron castings were poured approximately four inches thick of both male and female sides. ![]() View of front of pattern.
